Mae Besom (illustrator/author)
Mae Besom is an illustrator and nature lover living in Chongqing, China. After graduating from Sichuan Art Institute, she worked as a game designer and comic artist for years before she became a freelance illustrator. She is passionate about environmental public welfare. In 2019, Besom volunteered in documenting wildlife in Xinjiang (XUAR) and established the environmental protection agency “Guarding the Wilderness.”
In 2014, her illustrations for author Kobi Yamada’s picture book, What Do You Do With An Idea, became a best-seller, with sales exceeding 350,000 copies. It also ranked on the list of The New York Times Best Seller of Children’s Picturebooks.
