CAI Gao is a celebrated Chinese children's book illustrator and editor, known for her captivating and culturally rich artwork. Her illustrative style combines traditional Chinese elements with modern narratives, creating engaging stories for young readers. Her work has been internationally recognized, winning the Golden Apple Award at the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava in 1993. She is the first Chinese illustrator to win the BIB Golden Apple and the winner of the 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration.
